Garrett Coughlan

Garrett qualified from University College Dublin (UCD) with a BSc Physiotherapy in 2004, and completed a PhD in lower limb injuries and rehabilitation at the same institution in 2007. Over the past 20 years he has gained extensive experience ranging from private practice to high performance sport settings working in the following roles:

Nathan mullarkey
LEAD Performance coach BSc s + C, bus, MSc performance coaching
​Nathan qualified as a strength and conditioning coach from Setanta College in 2020 and subsequently completed his masters in the same institution in 2023 in Performance Coaching. He has a previous degree in Business from ATU Sligo. He is a passionate performance coach who works with elite level teams and athletes predominantly in Gaelic football.
Over the past decade he has honed his skills as a coach working with the Mayo and Leitrim Senior and Academy Football Squads and is currently the lead sports scientist with the Mayo Senior Men's Football Team. He has a specialist interest in Athlete Profiling and GPS.

In 2015, he was awarded Specialist Membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (SMISCP) in the area of Sports Medicine. Garrett has also lectured on postgraduate and undergraduate Physiotherapy programmes in UCD and delivered presentations at a number of international conferences. He has combined his clinical work with research and has published over 30 journal articles primarily in the areas of athlete profiling, concussion, lower limb rehabilitation and assessment, as well as medical team game communication and positioning in field sports (read here). He previously competed as a middle and long distance athlete at national and international level.
FACILITY
CORE Health and Performance opened our new purpose built 1500 sq ft facility in February 2024 conveniently located in the heart of Westport, Co. Mayo. Our centre has a waiting area, consultation rooms and a highly equipped gym space for all of your rehabilitation and performance requirements.

Appointments:
Our initial appointments (60 mins) cost €90 and all follow up appointments (40 mins) cost €70 per appointment. Please bring any applicable referral letters and imaging reports (X-ray / MRI scans etc) if you have been referred. We like exercise rehabilitation so please wear appropriate clothing (changing facilities are available onsite).

Payment Options:
Payment is required at the time or in advance for our performance sessions via our booking site. Please note we accept card payments only via all major debit cards and credit cards.

Cancellation Terms:
If you need to cancel your appointment, it is requested that you provide adequate notice (minimum 24 hours). A fee will apply for consistent late cancellation.

Health Insurance:
Some health insurance providers may give you a rebate if you have cover. This will depend on your policy, so please check directly with your provider. Please check the Revenue website for how to claim health expenses.
